Counting Crows in Poughkeepsie

No, not the band...actual crows! Except you can't count them...there are far too many. Check out this video I took last night on the way home from work. Zillions of them.

Here are a few articles on them...one from a bird club and one from the environmental editor, Dan Shapley at the Poughkeepsie Journal.

Crows
by the Gothic Archies

It gets dark around here early
Because of all the crows
What they want and where they came from
No one really knows
Crows are sour and surly
With reason, I suppose

There are crows, crows, crows in the trees
Saying crows things, doing as they please
There are crows, crows, crows everywhere
But when I think of you, dear, I don't care

There are crows, crows, crows in the trees
Saying crows things, doing as they please
There are crows, crows, crows everywhere
But when I think of you, dear, I don't care

It gets light around slowly
Because of how it goes
Every day we hear the same dumb list of those crows’ woes
Thinking they're so holy while leaving mementos

There are crows, crows, crows in the trees
Saying crow things, doing as they please
There are crows, crows, crows everywhere
But when I think of you, dear, I don't care

I don't care because I know you love me
Unlike all crows lurking above me…

That's fantastic! I adore crows!

We get "murders" of crows like that in my hometown.

We saw them here, too.. I think it was last weekend? I yelled and screamed for Chris to come upstairs and out onto the front porch.. it was absolutely eerie - both sides of the street: the front lawns, the trees, the power lines - and the RACKET! my goodness..
